About Natalie Beltran AMFT
I became a therapist because I believe that the stories we carry — about who we are, where we come from, and what we deserve — shape everything.
My work is about helping you look at those stories together, gently and honestly, so you can begin to write new ones.
I work from a psychodynamic and attachment-based perspective, which means I'm interested in more than just what's happening on the surface.
We'll explore the patterns, relationships, and experiences that have shaped you — including the cultural and family systems you were raised in. I believe that many of the things that feel like personal failings are actually very human responses to environments that weren't always safe, affirming, or fair.
My approach is non-oppressive, which means I hold deep respect for your identity, your culture, and your lived experience. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all model of mental health, and I will never ask you to fit into a box that wasn't made for you.
I offer therapy in both English and Spanish and welcome clients of all backgrounds, identities and walks of life. Serving clients in Highland Park, Eagle Rock, and Northeast Los Angeles.
I'm currently working toward full licensure as a Marriage and
Family Therapist (AMFT), under the supervision of a licensed
professional.

Frequently Asked Questions

Honest answer? You won't know until we talk.
The most important thing in therapy is whether you feel comfortable with your therapist, like you can be honest, challenged, and supported at the same time. I work best with people who are ready to look beyond the symptoms and explore a little deeper.
Book the free 15-minute consultation. We'll see if it feels right.

The first session is us getting to know each other. I'll ask about what brings you to therapy, what you're struggling with, what you've tried before, and what you're hoping will change.
I'll also ask about your history, such as family, relationships, and past experiences, to better understand your story. You'll have space to ask me questions too. About my approach, my background, how this works, and whatever you want to know.
By the end, we'll both have a sense of whether this feels like a fit. If it does, we'll schedule ongoing sessions. If it doesn't, no hard feelings. I can also help you find someone else.

Individual therapy sessions are $210, and couples sessions are $235.
Our practice does not accept insurance, but we can provide a superbill for possible reimbursement from your insurance.

Most of my clients haven't. Starting therapy can feel weird and vulnerable, but I'll make it as comfortable as possible. There are no right or wrong answers here. Just show up as you are and be honest about what's going on for you. We can figure out the rest together.
-
I use psychodynamic therapy, which basically means we explore how your past (early relationships, family dynamics, cultural experiences) shapes your present (current patterns, relationships, how you see yourself).
It's not about blaming your childhood for everything. It's about understanding why you do what you do, so you can make conscious choices rather than just react to old programming.
My style is warm but direct. I'll ask hard questions. I'll point out things you're avoiding. But I'll also sit with you when it gets uncomfortable, validate what you're feeling, and remind you that you don't have to have it all together.

If you're reading this, some part of you knows it's time.
You don't have to be at rock bottom to start therapy. You don't have to have a crisis, a diagnosis, or the perfect reason. You just need to be willing to show up and be honest.
Still not sure? Book the free consultation. No commitment. We'll just talk.

Couples therapy works best when both people are willing. But if one partner is hesitant, we can start with you coming individually to explore what's going on. Sometimes the partner just needs time. Sometimes, individual therapy helps you get clarity on what you want.

Maybe! I didn't list every single thing I work with because this page would be 10 miles long.
If you're dealing with something specific and wondering if I can help, just reach out. I'll be able to refer you to someone who might be a better fit.
